The installation shall evoke the moments missed in the course of the continuous flux of information and images and shall also put in question the wish to communicate.
Several people of different origin and language tell us a story of their choice. I don't interfere with the content of their stories; the only important point is that they tell a story in their mothertongue.
The installation consists of three videoplayers and three monitors. Each unit presents another person's image and story.
Whilst the stories are continuously and simultaneously told, the monitors show the image of the speaker in short and irregular intervalls alternating with blank (white) screen. These images which are visible only during a very short instant, accompanied by the babble of voices, represent the information which does not reach us any more because of the oversupply of information and which we cannot grasp any more. The blank screen leads via the oversupply of information and the people's stories to one single question: which is these people's origin.

Es sind die verpaßten Momente der täglichen Informations- und Bilderflut die als Objekt der Installation die Frage nach dem Willen zur Kommunikation stellen.
Menschen verschiedener Herkunft und Sprache erzählen eine von ihnen frei gewählte Geschichte, ich möchte auf den Inhalt ihrer Erzählung keinen Einfluß nehmen, entscheidend aber ist, daß in der jeweiligen Muttersprache erzählt wird.
Die Installation besteht aus drei Bildschirmen und den dazu gehörenden Videoplayern, jede dieser Einheiten bringt Bild und Ton einer anderen Person.
Während die Erzählungen gleichzeitig und ununterbrochen ablaufen, zeigt jeder Monitor das Bild des/der Sprechenden in sehr kurzen, unregelmäßigen Intervallen und ist im nächsten Augenblick wieder leer (weiß). Diese nur kurz aufblitzenden Bilder, begleitet vom Sprachengewirr der Erzählungen, stehen für jene Informationen die nicht mehr wahrgenommen, weil im Überangebot vorhanden, und dadurch von demjenigen den sie erreichen sollen einfach verpaßt werden. Der weiße Bildschirm läßt weg, kehrt um, schafft aus dem zuviel an Information, Platz für die Frage nach den Menschen und deren Geschichten aus denen nur eine Information, nämlich die ihrer Herkunft, hervorgeht.

Cette installation évoque les instants manqués dans le flux quotidien d'information et d'images, et questionne ansi la volonté de communiquer.
Plusieurs personnes d'origine et de langue différentes nous racontent une histoire de leur choix. Je ne veux nullement influencer leurs récits; la seule chose qui m'importe est que ces personnes racontent une histoire dans leur langue maternelle.
L'installation se compose de trois magnétoscopes et trois moniteurs. Chaque unité présente l'image et la voix d'une personne. Tandis que les récits se font parallèlement et sans interruption, l'image de celui/celle qui parle apparaît brièvement à intervalles irréguliers pour aussitôt redisparaître (écran blanc).
Ces images éclairs, accompagnées du brouhaha des langues et des récits, figurent cette information qui ne nous atteint plus du fait de la surabondance d'informations. L'écran blanc fait apparaître, dans le trop plain d'informations, à travers le récit de ces personnes, à une seule question: quelle est leur origine.
